Aberdeen Group: Predictive Analytics: The BI Crystal Ball

In the research report, “Predictive Analytics: The BI Crystal Ball”, by Aberdeen Group sponsored by The Nielsen Company; we found that companies are beginning to obtain benefits of tapping business intelligence data about their customers, products, risk management, strategic initiatives, and process efficiencies in order to become more predictive about their businesses.

Best-in-class companies are not focusing on one method or technology, but are focusing efforts on multiple approaches to becoming more predictive and improving performance.

A majority of these Best-in-Class companies were able to achieve a customer retention rate of 90% or higher during a 12-month period. Among other improvements, theses companies were also able to achieve an average Marketing ROI of 3.5-times in a 12-month period versus Average Industry Companies that only achieve 1.4-times return-on-marketing investment.

Aberdeen Group: Getting Real About Operational BI

The Nielsen Company sponsored a research report by Aberdeen Group titled “Operational BI- Getting Real Time About Performance”. The report findings indicate how companies who are leaders in this space have seen several benefits materialize as a result of their Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives

Best-in-Class companies are extracting quantifiable benefits throughout their business. These include enhanced management visibility to operational information, reduced time-to-decision, increased customer satisfaction, and increased employee productivity.

Responsiveness and agility are among the major benefits as 63% of Best-in-Class companies surveyed have decreased the time between actual business activity and decision-makers’ ability to take action during the past 12 months. This is significantly higher than the 23% of Industry Average companies, and only 6% of Laggards.
